Trouser shape today seemed logical and then joined it up with the jumper shape!  A character could be emerging...

A dress shape today - impression made with the lid from a tube of paint...

A wet and rainy start to the day meant another woolly jumper shape.  I think my past backgroud of knit techniques from my textile degree is showing it's influence too.  I think you can see I rather liked this print plate - couldn't help printing quite a few prints with it...

A dress shape today. The texture was made by pressing the edge of a bull dog clip into the polystyrene.  It's really rainy here today so I'm brightening the place up with some yellows and pinks. Lovely left over inks on my blotter paper today too.
Last image is from my trip to Copenhagen - love this building - wish I could live in something similar and turn a floor into my studio space (although I'd miss my studio pals in Huddersfield!)

So I'm back from my break - we went to Copenhagen for a few days - lovely place - very inspiring and I've returned feeling ready to get back to this 365 Print Project I've madly set myself.

One thing that's stayed with me from my trip is the simplicity of decor and materials in Copenhagen - I'm trying to keep hold of this and not over complicate some of my processes or worry that they are too simple! (I'll post some photos from my trip another day)

Remember my polystyrene textured prints from early on? I've revisited it today but started to form shapes instead of leaving them as rectangles.  Figurative forms creeping back in - and I can't help but start with the blue ink ;)

it's gone all cold and grey here so the woolly jumpers are out and inspired today's shape.
The marks are made by pushing the flat end of a large paper clip into the polystyrene.  Lots of possibiliti…

Mid Review - Reflection - Practice - Process

Image
I've been working on these prints for over 6 months now. It's speeding by. I'm getting to a stage in the year where I'll have a bit more time to commit to my practice so it seems like a good time to take stock.

There are still many processes I have yet to explore and I feel ready to develop some ideas that have been milling about in my head - but I don't have time to do them quite yet.

At times I've wanted to veer off and do other techniques and it's been hard to stick to the printing - particularly when I can see where patterns and prints could be applied. On the other hand,  it's felt good to work through some of the print processes and discover new ways of working I otherwise wouldn't have found.

I'm also feeling quite tired and ready for a break - so I've decided to really take some time and I'm having a week off from posting my prints. I feel a bit guilty but also know I do need the rest.

We all need some time away from working but…

Colour is eluding me recently - forced myself not to pick up blue today! Might be time for a break to recharge my batteries and allow for some reflection....

Something different today - sort of started by accident but then became something more... I need more space and more rollers to apply the colour how I'd like but they are up at the studio 》:(
